.........................ನಿಜ. ಜಹೀರ್ ಅಹಮದ್ ನೀನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ನಿಜ. ನಿನ್ನ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು ೧೯೫೬ರಷ್ಟು ಹಳೆಯದಾದರೂ ಚಿರಂತನ ಸತ್ಯ. ಅದು ಹೈದರಾಬಾದಿಗಷ್ಟೇ ವರ್ತಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ - ಯಾವುದೇ ನಾಗರಿಕತೆಗೆ, ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ವರ್ತಿಸಬಹುದಲ್ಲವೇ? ಹಾಗೆ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಂತೆ ಖಾಲಿ ಜಾಗಗಳನ್ನೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಇಮಾರತುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹುಡುಕಿ ಹೊರಟವನಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಹುಡುಕಿದ್ದು ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ರೂಮಿಟೋಪಿಯನ್ನು. ಆಗಾಗ ಹಿಂದಿ ಸಿನೇಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರೆಹುಚ್ಚು ಹಿಡಿದ ವಿದೂಷಕನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕುಚ್ಚು ಟೋಪಿಯನ್ನು. ಅದು ಕೆಲ ಸಿನೇಮಾಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಛದ್ಮವೇಷ ಧರಿಸಿದ ನಾಯಕನ ತಲೆಯಮೇಲೂ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. `ಅಮರ್ ಅಕ್ಬರ್ ಆಂಥೊನಿ' ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ರಿಷಿ ಕಪೂರನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಂಡದ್ದು ಈ ರೂಮಿ ಟೋಪಿಯನ್ನೇ. ಕುಳ್ಳನಾದ ರಿಷಿಕಪೂರನಿಗೆ, ಉದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಲ್ಲುವ ಕೆಂಪು ಬಣ್ಣದ ಈ ಕುಚ್ಚಿನ ಮಕ್ಮಲ್ ಟೋಪಿ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇದೇ ರೂಮಿ ಧರಿಸಿ `ತಯಾಬಲಿ ಪ್ಯಾರ್ ಕಾ ದುಷ್ಮನ್ ಹಾಯ್ ಹಾಯ್' ಎಂದೂ ಖೋಜಾಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ನರ್ತಿಸುವಾಗ ರೂಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಗತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನೂ ಚಿಂತಿತನಾದದ್ದುಂಟು.

I could see your blog today only.while reading all the articles i came across this one. it touched me very much because i belong to this yester years Hydrabad state and presently a part of karnataka.
Ok i have got a identity as kannada speaking person .but i have lost so much because of part of this karnataka.
whenever people talk of history of karnataka (may be history of literature, culture theatre etc)they tell about old mysore then about bombay karnataka then the history of karnataka stops i will be eager to find a word about gulbarga it will not be there at all. this has happened most of the times . even now we are outsiders.
we could have had that identity as hydrabadis if we had continued in HYd state only.we have our very strong route here with hyd & its rulers. even now you aks people time in gulbarga in kannda only they tell bara (for 12) sade bara(for 12.30) sava bara(12.15).
goto market and ask some rate they tell do rupaiyya or adhe rupa(2.5 rs). our kannada is full of Urdu and may be vice varsa also) here we have a fading generation of who had studied in URDU speak very good urdu. if they had some more time a culture of speaking kannada would have been created(like a genre of english writers of india or indian origin)we have lost that
